Shafie on No Competition among Universities in Malaysia

Bernama: Rural and Regional Development Minister, Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said the existence of universities in the country should not be seen as competition but motivation to upgrade competency level.

Public and private universities need to create a niche and establish symbiotic collaboration to ensure the sustainability of the country's education.

"Higher education has developed rapidly with the establishment of seven foreign universities in the past decade.

"A co-existence strategy that is more profitable, rather than competitive, should be designed," he said at 'Malam ke Puncak Awan' dinner function here Tuesday night. Expecting improvement without competition? Malaysians are lucky that he is not the Minister of Higher Education.

Also, if Dr Mohd Puad has really discovered a way to cure LGBT, he should be the first Malaysian to be awarded with Nobel Prize of Medicine.
