Discovering Beyond Diversity: University of Malaya's International Culture and Education Exchange Programme

Dubbed as ICE 3.0 which stands for the International Culture and Education Exchange Programme, this is the third time the project has been successfully held under the 1st Residential College, University of Malaya. The exchange program this year is held in collaboration with Sungshin Women's University, one of the top private universities in South Korea.
Under their "2018 Winter Short-term Programme", delegates were given the opportunity to experience a variety of cultural activities such as K-pop dance, wearing the Hanbok, tea ceremony, making bibimbap and facial make-up. Delegates were also given basic Korean lessons where they learnt to read and write Korean characters, also known as Hangul.
This year, ICE aims to become agents of change by empowering youths to take the lead in environmental issues. To achieve this, delegates visited the Cheonggyecheon River in Seoul to learn more on the efforts taken by the local council in order to preserve the river. It is hoped that through this programme, delegates would be able to think outside the box, innovate and keep abreast of the current environmental issues.
When visiting the delegates, Professor Datuk Dr Rohana Yusof, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student Affairs) of University of Malaya congratulated the team and expressed her hope that the team would be able to import and incorporate those values gained from this programme in the University of Malaya.
