New Strait Times: Gap year option: Varsity students to get a year off from study The Higher Education Ministry will implement the Gap Year 2017 programme starting September to allow undergraduates to take a year off from studying to pursue their interests. Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh said the practice, which was common abroad, would affect eight universities. “These students can take a year off to gain industrial work experience or pursue their interest in arts. The universities can also make it as their programme. It can be a part of the National Service Training Programme,” he said after delivering a speech during the Amanat 2017 at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre. Idris said the ministry was looking into working with the police, army or the Immigration Department on the programme. Borang Permohonan Pendaftaran Skim 1 Pelajar 1 Perniagaan SSM PENDAFTARAN PERNIAGAAN SECARA PERCUMA MELALUI SKIM 1PELAJAR 1PERNIAGAAN Berkuatkuasa 1 Januari 2017, pelajar Institusi Pengajian Tinggi Awam/Swasta (IPTA/S) yang ingin mendaftarkan perniagaan mereka dengan Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (SSM) di bawah Akta Pendaftaran Perniagaan 1956 akan dikecualikan daripada dikenakan sebarang bayaran. Inisiatif ini diberikan melalui geran RM10 juta yang telah diperuntukkan khas oleh SSM yang mana ia akan dibahagikan sebanyak 1 juta setiap tahun bagi tempoh 10 tahun. Melalui geran tersebut setiap pelajar yang memohon hanya layak sekali sahaja mendaftarkan perniagaan sama ada di bawah milikan tunggal (nama perniagaan menggunakan nama sendiri seperti di kad pengenalan atau nama tred) ataupun perniagaan perkongsian menggunakan nama tred untuk tempoh satu tahun sahaja. Upholding the theme, “Determination”, the art competition saw 19 unique and eye-opening entries competing for 2016’s top honours.
