YPASM Polar Research Grants (Antarctica and Arctic)

  • The YPASM provides grants to Malaysian scientists from research institutions and institutions of higher learning to conduct research in the Antarctic and Arctic regions as well as analytical research at Malaysian institutions.
  • Research is conducted roughly in the Arctic, Antarctica and southern ocean regions in the disciplines including biology, ecology, atmospheric science, earth and ocean sciences, astronomy and astrophysics.

YPASM Polar Research Grants (Antarctica and Arctic) Guidelines for Applicants
The establishment of the Sultan Mizan Antarctic Research Foundation (SMARF) or the Yayasan Penyelidikan Antartika Sultan Mizan (YPASM) was approved by the Cabinet on 6 June 2012. Subsequently, on 18 July 2012, YPASM was registered as a Company Limited by Guarantee and not having share capital, under the Companies Act 1965.

YPASM was officially launched by Ke Bawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Al-Wathiqu Billah Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Mahmud Al-Muktafi Billah Shah, Sultan of Terengganu on 19 July 2012 in Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia.
