Corrupted Headmaster Fined RM148,500 & Two Years' Jail

Bernama:
A headmaster was sentenced to two years' jail and a fine of RM148,500 on five counts of abuse of power involving the supply of school co-curricular uniforms in 2008 and 2009, amounting to RM32,400.

Judge Mohd Rosli Osman handed out the judgement on Zakaria Md Lazim, 56, who was the headmaster at the Sekolah Kebangsaan Tandop Besar (SKTB), Kuala Nerang, near here.

He used his position to appoint ZNR Kuala Nerang Enterprise (ZNR), as the supplier of Puteri Islam uniforms, valued at RM3,300, although he had vested interests as ZNR was owned by his sister, Ros Adimas Md Lazim.
Malaysia Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) should start investigating all schools in Malaysia if similar incidents happened (or are happening) at other schools.
